Grit & Grace Logo

Branding a new business can be tricky, especially when you’re trying to give a fresh look to something like home therapy. But founder Anne Cevallos knew exactly what she wanted; something fun and modern that would fit in with current design trends. For the logo the concept was a thick hand drawn font with some texture to emphasize the "grit" and a clean modern supporting typeface. She loved the direction and after just a few tweaks to the color palette, she had her brand-new logo.

Logo Process

After the initial design brief, I spend some time conducting research on the clients industry. I take note of what's trending and try to find any information on how brand design effected similar business models. I then send over a mood-board, or a group of previously completed designs (some of my own and some pre-existing from similar industries) as well as a few color combinations to help me figure out what the client likes and dislikes.

Based on the clients feedback I put together two options (below). Both reflect ideas she liked from the mood-boards while making sure they're different enough from one another to give the client some range to choose from. After a round of revisions where we changed some colors and a few other minor edits we were left with the final product.

The Website

Founder Anne Cevallos had originally planned on using the therapy company that hosts her online service to develop her website. But after seeing a draft, she was less than thrilled. I explained to her how integral this site could be for her new business, and the importance of her clients first impressions when visiting. She saw the light and in just a few weeks we put together a beautiful website that both supported the new branding and that she could be proud of. View the full site here.
